Although World War II began 21 years after World War I ended, many historians believe the two conflicts were part of a larger global fight. Many people would argue that due of the year difference and the fact that Germany had two distinct allies in the two wars, it was not a continuity. Despite the fact that Germany never surrendered, they went to fight again.
To some extent World War 2, was a continuation of World War I. There were the same enemies. The British, French, and Americans were fighting the Germans. The Germans felt that the WW1 Treaty of Versailles had been unfair to them. Many Germans still felt animosity and resented the terms of the treaty. They had to give up land and were not allowed to build up their military. Germans felt they had been humiliated in WW1.
