When Jacqueline first tells her family about her dream to pursue being a writer she was asked to be a lawyer or a teacher instead and was responded with the cold behavior of taking the writing as a hobby only. Her family does not have a strong belief in her.
When Jacqueline moves to New York she at first did not feel at home but later she was comfortable and felt accepted in society. This instance made her realize that home can come in many instances and is not just the family she had.
