Respuesta :

m1 = 5 and m2 = 5

When are two lines said to be parallel?

Two lines are said to be parallel if their gradients are equal.

Analysis:

Line L1 is already in the form y = mx +c which is y = 5x + 1

line L2 is not in the form y = mx + c,  so we write it in that form.

2y -10x  + 3 = 0

2y = 10x -3

y = 10x/2 - 3/2

y = 5x + 3 -3/2

the gradient m1 of line L1 is the coefficient of x which is 5.

the gradient m2 of line L2 is the coefficient of x which is 5.

In conclusion, The both lines are parallel since their gradients are equal.
