The reason why Jose was upset whe he returned from the Mirandas was due to the fact that the guards did not believe him hence:  He thinks he will not get the dollar because he did not bring help.

Who was Jose?

This character is a little boy from the short story Antijos. After they had a flat tire, the young boy was asked to go and get help.

But the security guard hit and had accused him of lying because he believed no one would be driving at that time of the night.
