D.) x = 40
E.) x = 12
F.) x = 32
G.) x = 12.25
H.) x = 9
I.) x = -3
Okay. I'll work some of them out.

D. (3/5)b = 24.

Okay. So, b is your variable and we are trying to solve for 'b', yes? Whenever you divide by a fraction, it gets flipped or recipricated on the other side. So

(3/5)b = 24 would become b = 24(5/3) and from there you would multiply 24*5 and then divide by 3 yielding and answer of 40.

D and F are the same.

E) You would just divide by 2 on the otherside, getting 12.

C) Remember that 36.75 is the same as 36 and (3/4). And if you remember the little rule about converting numbers like that into pure fractions, you multiply the whole number (36) by the denominator (4) and add the numerator (3) to get 147 and then put that over 4 so you have 147/3 which is the same as 36.75.

From there you would substitute the 147/4 into the 36.75 so the problem looks like

147/3 = 3x and solve normally.

H and I) When we solve for a variable like in H and I,

H: x+5=14. Since we need to get 5 to the other side to leave x by itself, we would SUBTRACT 5 since it is added on the other side. Resulting in 14-5=x. The same goes for I
