It matters for a lot of reasons. A few of them are the European exploration essentially was the cause of the near extinction of native Americans, along with many animals and resources. Another reason is that the Europeans were among the first to colonize America.

The European Age of Exploration was important because:

  • The Europeans almost caused the wipeout of the Native Americans

According to the events which occured in the European Age of Exploration, we can see that during the periods of 1400 and through the 1600s, the Europeans began to move across the various lands in the world to invade the people already there and to colonise them.

As a result of this, this caused the near wipeout of the Native Americans as they put up a resistance to the Europeans but were mercilessly mowed down due to their superior firepower which made them to easily colonize the people and grab new territories.
