The zero product property means that 0a=0.
(I'm assuming that by y2 you mean y squared btw)
[tex] y^{2} 4y - 32 = 0[/tex]
[tex]4y - 32 = \frac{0}{ y^{2} } [/tex]
the zero divided by y is zero:
[tex]4y - 32 = 0[/tex]
move the 4y
[tex]-32 = 4y[/tex]
[tex] \frac{-32}{4} = y[/tex]
[tex]y = -8[/tex]
