The day Grammy rose from her chair and
raised her voice, she got my attention in
a whole new way. It was the summer of
1976, and Grammy had been living with us
for six months by then and in all that
time, she only seemed interested in what
she was reading or cooking
That day, I was sharing exciting news with
Mom and, as usual Grammy was quietly
reading with a faraway look in her eyes.
