thats not the answer at all. the actual answer is pyruvate. Got me waisting my time on this and its the wrong answer, everyone makes mistakes and I am not mad, just devestated.
Glycolysis is the first step of cellular respiration where the degradation of glucose to pyruvate occurs in the cytosol of the cell.
Glycolysis is the main route of carbohydrate metabolism and occurs in the cytoplasm of cells.
- In glycolysis, one glucose molecule is degraded in a series of enzyme-catalyzed reactions to produce two pyruvate molecules, with the net production of two ATP molecules, in the absence of oxygen.
- In addition, from the net formation of two ATP molecules, two NADH molecules (reducing power) are formed during the process.
Therefore, we can conclude that glycolysis is a metabolic pathway that consists fundamentally in the breakdown of glucose molecules to obtain ATP molecules and two pyruvate molecules.
