Which equation is represented by the table?

x y (x, y)
0 2 (0, 2)
1 –1 (1, –1)
2 –4 (2, –4)

A.

y = –2x

B.
y = –3x + 2

C.
y = x – 1

D.
y = 2x

Respuesta :

The answer is B. What i did was pick the coordinates (0,2) and (1, -1). Then I put the two y's on top and x' s on the bottom. I subtracted -1 from 2 and that got me 3 then I subtract 1 from 0 which got me -1. That left me with 3/-1 which is simplified to -3. Then to solve for b I used the formula y=mx+B. then I plugged in the information I knew (using the first coordinate again). so I was dealing with 2=-3(0)+b. I multiplied -3 by 0 and that got me 0 which left me with 2= 0 + B which ends up giving me 2=B. then I put it into the the formula y=mx+B again expect I filled in what I knew which was the slope (m) and y-intercept (b). I ended up with the answer y=-3x+2. I hope that helped.
