The gift cost $40. Kim gave 35% of the money for the gift. Beth gave 3/8 of the money for the gift. How much money did Jenny give to buy the gift?

kim gave 40 x .35 = $14
Beth gave 40 x (3/8) = $15
jenny --  x

.35*40 + (3/8)*40 + x = 40
14 + 15 + x = 40
29 + x = 40

x = 11
