Cyrus the Great was also named Cyrus II. He was born between 590-589 BC in Media.

One of his main accomplishments was founding the Achaemenian Empire.In addition, according to the Bible, he freed the Jews that were enslaved in Babylonia and let them go back to their homes.

The conquest of Babylonia was made very quickly because many citizens of that city were against Nabonidus, their governor.
