The legislative branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The main task of these two bodies is to make the laws. Its powers include passing laws, originating spending bills, impeaching officials, and approving treaties. Hope this helps.

Among the host of other powers vested with the Legislative branch includes levying taxes, borrowing money, establishing annual budget, declaring war, regulating business laws with overseas nations and among states.
