An unintended result of the Tariff of 1828  is that: A.  Southern states suffered from the high taxes on imported goods, and many people began to discuss states’ right to secede from the United States.

The Tariff of 1828 was excess tax duties that were assigned to goods manufactured in England.

The aim of these tariffs was to discourage the importation of goods from England to the newly formed American government.

The South who were mostly farmers that imported raw materials were badly affected by this because the cost of importation became very high.

They were so aggrieved that some of them wanted to secede from the United States.
