Tuskegee Airmen were known mostly for their prowess, in a military establishment that is known for black Americans as inferior to white Americans and could not possibly become pilots. But they became the agent or the catalyst to the said desegregation of all military services by President Harry.
Due to the aerial success in combat overseas, as the first African American pilots in American military service, the Tuskegee Airmen helped in the desegregation of base facilities and to the desegregation of the armed forces. This led to the end of segregation in the United State.
