It doesn’t matter how “well” they might have been treated on the plantation. All slaves were better fleeing to the north. Being in the North would give so many opportunities to people of color they would have never gotten in the South, for example, people of color could learn, own land, and have a family. Fleeing to the North was the overall better option for any person of color.
