  • They couldn't find the jobs needed in their countries and decided to risk everything to come to the United States.
  • There were many industries in the United States where technology and new machines in the fabrics demanded more hands and offered low-paid jobs.
  • These immigrants arrived and settled in the following places.
  • Asian immigrants arrived at Angel Island in San Francisco, California.
  • European immigrants entered through Ellis Island, in New York.
  • Most of the industries were located in large cities of the East Coast such as New York, Chicago, and Boston.
