The Crusades were a set of religious wars fought between Christians and Muslims to gain control of the "holy land." They went on throughout 1096 to 1921 and were bloody, cruel, fights. These fights sprouted from the Pope's cry for assistance after the conquer of Byzantium by the Seljuk Turks. The first Crusade primarily consisted of religious warriors sent by the Pope attempting to reclaim the holy land.

They mainly took place in Medittarean area and were supported by the Latin Church.
