What linear function equation can be represented by the set of ordered pairs?

{(−4,−6),(0,−3),(4,0),(12,6)}

stuck on this question please help

Respuesta :

bcalle
y = (3/4)x - 3
Use two of the ordered points to find the slope.
Then use the slope and one of the ordered pairs to find the y-intercept.

As set of four points are given.

First we will check whether these four points are collinear or not , i.e whether they lie in a line or not.

So plotting on the graph these four points, (−4,−6),(0,−3),(4,0),(12,6).

As you can see all these points are collinear.

So we can find the equation of line joining two points , (a,b) and (c,d) which is given by :

⇒ [tex]\frac{y-b}{x-a}=\frac{b-d}{a-c}[/tex]

Select any two points among the given ordered pairs

By considering point (0,-3) and (4,0), we can get equation of line as follows

[tex]\frac{y-0}{x-4}=\frac{0+3}{4-0}\\\\ 4 y = 3 (x-4)\\\\ 4 y = 3 x -12\\\\  3 x - 4 y - 12 =0[/tex]
