The agency reported that an estimated 12.6 million people died of living or working in almost unhealthy locations in 2012.

High death rates related to cardiovascular diseases and cancer were also reported by WHO. The cases are present in Europe, South America and North America, higher income nations.
Dr Margaret Chan, WHO's Director General, said in a statement, "A healthy environment is the basis for a healthy population." "In those countries where people live and work healthily and do not take action, millions of people will remain ill and die too young."
