Animals lose body heat through the surface of the skin. The more surface area an animal has, the more efficiently it loses body heat. Their bodies have adapted to cold climates. Polar bears have dark or black skin under their think fur which help to absorb the suns rays. They have broad feet to walk on ice or snow. Their fur repels water & is very dense or thick to hold in body heat.
Seals & whales have thick blubber to hold in the warmth of their bodies. Also many animals that live in snowy climates have white fur to blend in to their surroundings. This makes it easier to hunt other animals & also stay hidden if they are prey.
