Answer: Since blood type A carries the A antigen, it can only recieve blood with type A or type O in it, so it can only make blood transfusions with a type A, or type O blood donor. Same goes with blood type B, it can only receive blood from B or O blood donors. As for type AB recipients, they can receive blood from any blood types, (A B AB and O). For type O recipients, they can only receive blood from another type O donor. This is why some parts of the table have unsuccessful transfusions because the blood cells will not recognize the other blood type cells coming into your body, so they will see them as invaders.
