Mr. Marcucci received a bonus of $496 from his employer. He has to pay 33% of his bonus to taxes. How much will Mr. Marcucci pay in taxes?

Respuesta :

Edit: 33% is not [tex]\frac{1}{3}[/tex], therefore my solution is wrong. The correct answer is 0.33 x 496, which is $163.68

The following is the original solution, which is incorrect.
33% = [tex]\frac{1}{3}[/tex]. Multiply the bonus of $496 by [tex]\frac{1}{3}[/tex] to get the solution of [tex]\frac{496}{3}[/tex], or 165 and [tex]\frac{1}{3}[/tex]

Therefore the solution is $165.33

If he has to pay 33% of his bonus to taxes, first I would find how much money he gets AFTER taxes are taken. First do 496 x 0.67 = 332.32

Now do 496 - 332.32 and you get 163.68

He will pay 163.68 in taxes.

The answer is $163.68
