I do believe that the hardest part of an art critique is all based on opinion. Some have trouble with finding flaws, some with finding the good things. It all depends on you. Are you giving the critique or getting it?
Answer:
The art critic is the individual who acts in the criticism of artistic production based on his lived experiences, in addition to studies and research in the segment, involving value judgments and analyzes capable of defining and recognizing different models of artistic products as such.
Thus, this work involves judgment - both positive and negative - interpretation, experience, evaluation and, of course, personal taste.
The critic is the one who will issue the opinions, express his taste and analyze the created product in all aspects. Usually a renowned critic will give his opinions on the works evaluated in major communication vehicles, or even, the channels specialized in art.
As much as the popularization of art is already a reality, the truth is that art criticism is still more effectively related to high-income social groups and especially in the Western world.
Some very simple questions can facilitate the understanding of a particular work of art, and they are also used in the work of critics of painting, theater, cinema, works of art, inspired by different artistic movements and so on.
Are they:
• Who was the artist responsible for this work of art?
• When does the work date and what does it have to do with the current context of art history?
• Are there any historical factors that surround it? Why?
• At that moment, what was the scenario that prevailed?
• What are the influences on which the artist was based to create the work?
