The Miami were the most powerful tribe in Ohio. The Miami were originally allies of the French until the British won the French Indian War. So, when French posts were overtaken by the British the Miami moved in order to avoid futher battles. However, the Miami were fearful of more white settlers moving into the Ohio Country and decided to help the British fight the Americans during the American Revolution. After the defeat of the British, the Miami continued to fight the Americans who were invading their land.
