Nucleus: Regulates and controls the activities of the cell, such as metabolism and growth. It also carries the genes, structures that carry hereditary information.

Nucleolus: Produces and assembles the cell’s ribosomes.

Nuclear membrane: Separates chromosomes from the rest of the cell, and contains small pores that allow the passage of certain materials, such as proteins and nucleic acids, between the nucleus and cytoplasm.

Chromosomes: Carries genetic information from one generation to the next. They also play a role in hereditary, cell division, variation, mutation, and repair and regeneration.

Ribosomes: Protein production.

Cytoplasm: Holds the components of the cell and protects them from damage. It also stores the molecules required for cellular processes and gives the cell its shape.

Cell membrane: Provides protection for the cell. Plus, it transports nutrients into the cell and transports harmful substances out of the cell.

Mitochondria: Generates most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell’s biochemical reactions.

Golgi complex: Processes and packages the macromolecules such as proteins and lipids that are synthesized by the cell.

Vacuole: Maintains water balance and contains waste products.

Endoplasmic reticulum: Plays a role in synthesis, folding, modification, and the transport of proteins.

Cell wall: Provides the cell with structural support and production, and acts as a filtering mechanism.

Chloroplast: Converts light energy into stable chemical energy.
