A root words gives the word it's meaning.
For example, the word "Happy" means "showing or causing feelings of pleasure and enjoyment"
With the prefix "un" it changes to the meaning of the root word happy to "sad, depressed, or disappointed : not happy"
With the suffix "ily" it changes the meaning to mean "without happiness : in an unhappy manner"
