Civil liberties are vital to democracy itself. Some Civil liberties vital for democracy are freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of expression and assembly. On the grounds of experience, without freedom of speech we would not be able to say what we liked without getting persecuted. Without the right for equal treatment under law then we would be subject to unfair punishments based on biases.
