If I’m correct, Caiden’s vehicle gets the higher rate of miles per gallon.

You can get that answer by working on the graph shown for Ethan and converting it into an equation as well.

To do that, we need to find the slope. The slope is the unit rate. For example, it says Caiden’s unit rate is 16.2 miles per gallon. So we’re finding Ethan’s unit rate.

This can be used with the line on that graph. The first point of the line we could use is at (0,0) which is the start of the graph. We want to use whole numbers so the next point is (2,30) (because if you look closely at the line, it fits perfectly in that spot).

Remember when it comes to the points in the graph, x is at the bottom while y is on the side. So it’s ordered as (x,y)
Just to make that clear!

Just having the point (2,30) doesn’t tell you much about the unit rate yet. So we have to divide.

30/2=15

So Ethan’s unit rate is 15 miles per gallon.
16 is the larger number so Caiden’s vehicle is going at a higher rate per gallon.

Hope that helps!!
