The roman empire peaked at one point but everything went downhill from there. Since Rome was so big it got attacked from everywhere. Rome was so big it was split up into eastern and western sections. To add to that the citizens of Rome did not stand up for Roman beliefs and ideas any more. The leaders of Rome were becoming weak, and so were its people.
