In the book titled, “The Art of Racing in the Rain”, the main character is a golden retriever named Enzo. Enzo walks us through and narrates the story so we can understand his thoughts, feelings, and things going on around him. Enzo is very independent and believes that he is a man in a dogs body. Enzo’s owner, Denny, is a race car driver and Denny brings Enzo to every race as a good luck charm. Enzo loved watching Denny race, and he felt the track was his home. A quote that shows how he loved racing is, “I feel that racing is where I belong.” Another is, “In racing, your car goes where your eyes go. A driver who cannot tear his gaze from the wall will inevitably meet that wall. But the driver who looks down the track as he feels his tires break free, that driver will maintain control of his car and his destiny.”
