When Alexander was thirteen, his father (Philip) called on the great philosopher Aristotle to tutor and teach Alexander. Aristotle fostered Alexander’s interest in literature, science, medicine, philosophy, and scientific investigation. His best friend and second in order was the general Hephaestion. He was supposedly connected to the Greek heroes Hercules from his father’s side and Achilles from his mother’s side. Alexander tamed a wild horse and it’s name was Bucephalus when he was a kid. It was his main horse that he used all the time until it died of old age. Alexander actually named a city in India after his horse.
