British Indian Army

The ratio of Britishers per Indians in the Army changed significantly because of 1857 Revolt. Before 1857, the ratio was of 1:10, which changed to 2:5 after 1857. As per the Census from 1860s onwards, it was recorded that around 1.5 million Indians were in the Army in comparison to small numder of British officers.
