It all depends on the perspective and person. When a student encounters a social issue, such as bullying, it is important to inform a superior figure/adult. It is also important to avoid interacting with this problematic person or inappropriately responding to their actions (violence, threats, profanity, etc.) Yes, they may agitate or irritate you, however it is best to tune them out, dismissing their words/actions as nothing. If they physically assault you, file a report to your school administrator or local police department so that they can conduct an investigation/properly chastise the suspect. If they continue to harass you verbally, the option of filing a report is also in your possession. I have been bullied before for the most idiotic of reasons; however I know that the ridicule not worth my time. Don't let their insults consume you, either.
