An allegory is a figure of speech in which the characters, events or figures are described with abstract ideas and principles. Basically, the objective of using Allegory is to teach some kind of moral lesson. The most famous example of Allegory is John Bunyan's “Pilgrim's Progress” in which abstract ideas like despair, honesty, happiness, etc. were portrayed as real characters.
