moral and ethical of most of the characters.

Odyssey's wife, Penelope, plays an important role in Homer's Odyssey, because all the time of his journey, Penelope is motivating Odysseus to return to Ithaca. It represents the symbol of the goddess, which is also a center of the plot that relates to her suitors and the fate of their son and all of Ithaca.

Throughout Odyssey's absence, Penelope skillfully avoids and misleads all her suitors, which shows her wit and wisdom. Thus she shows wisdom not only in the way she refuses the suitors, but also the reason she does it, she wants to wait for Odyssey. It is the sublime morality of the goddess and the queen arising from the wisdom she has, aware that her wisdom gives strength to the Odyssey who is on the journey. Thus Odysseus has the strength to refuse the gift of immortality offered to him, in exchange for staying with Calypso. He denies this and continues his journey, seeking to return to Penelope and his son. Penelope's wisdom, which appears practically in everyday life, when she was highly sought after, is also shown as a universal value that is able to maintain love, motivation for endurance, and ultimate goal.
