A skeletal muscle organ is arranged into several fascicles. They're packed side-by-side and surrounded by the perimysium, which contains blood vessels and nerves. The endomysium is the connective tissue surrounding individual muscle fibers, and they're packed within a fascicle.
The organization of skeletal muscle at tissue level is made up of:
• Epimysium; around the muscle belly.
• Perimysium; surrounding the muscle fascicles.
• Endomisium; coating the muscle fibers, which in turn, are made up of myofibrillar structures.
The muscle cell or fiber is the structural and functional unit of muscle tissue. The skeletal muscle tissue has a striated appearance.
Muscle fibers are organized in bundles surrounded by an outer connective tissue membrane, called the epimysium.
Very thin septa of connective tissue start from this, which are directed towards the interior of the muscle, dividing it into fascicles, these septa are called perimysium.
Each muscle fiber is surrounded by a very thin layer of reticular fibers, forming the endominsium.
The connective tissue holds the muscle fibers together, allowing the contraction force generated by each individual fiber to act on the entire muscle, thus contributing to its contraction.
Therefore, we can conclude that the organization of skeletal muscle at tissue level of the striated muscle fibers is given by the connective tissue that is organized in: Endomysium, Perimysium and Epimysium.
