How did enslaved persons resist slavery? - factors that contributed to the growth in slavery was the invention of the cotton gin. the cotton gin was successful in the south, so this gave plantation owners more land to farm which increased the slave population. slaves in the plantains resisted slavers by running away, purposely slowed down the work so that they got less one. they also broke tools that they used to work.
