How was the Renaissance artist Michelangelo inspired by classical art

i think he was inspired to create art himself from the classical arts but i'm not 100% sure because this was one of the things i didn't research because when i did nothing came up about how he was inspired. so sorry if i'm wrong.

The Italian Renaissance was about the study of perfect perspective. (Michelangelo loves the perfect perspective of the human body as seen in some of his sculptures) Classical art was elegant in a sense of presentation. The simplified composition/layout of the piece is present.
