Answer:

Macbeth is a play by William Shakespeare. It centers on the actions of a brave general named Macbeth. The play starts with Macbeth receiving a prophecy that one day he will become King of Scotland. As time passes, Macbeth gets impatient waiting for the prophecy to come true. He plots with his ambitious wife and kills the king. After becoming King of Scotland, Macbeth and his wife start suffering from guilt and paranoia. This causes him to murder more people to protect his position. Soon, he becomes a dictatorial ruler. Finally, a large group of Scottish nobles come together to kill Macbeth and put an end to his tyranny.

Macbeth is a tragedy because it portrays the downfall of the main character, Macbeth, who is of high rank. Also, Macbeth faces situations that cannot be escaped. He murders the king of Scotland and therefore enters the realms of guilt and madness, which cause him to perform more immoral actions. The play ends with the death of the main character, which is an important feature of tragedy.
