a. Point symbols on a map are used in drawing the features, layout and scenes on a map.  

b. Topographic features on a map are used in showing pipelines, buildings, contours, boundary lines, and the elevation on a map.

c. Topography has an effect on the population of an area. For example, a rugged topography means there's an uneven surface and the surface is rocky. Therefore, this will lead to the reduction of the population as people won't want to settle there.

Furthermore, an undulating topography also leads to a reduction in population.

d. The availability of natural resources in a particular area will bring about a higher population density. This will encourage people to settle in the area and utilize the resources.
