The Populist Party was formed during the
decline of many agricultural prices. The
party had blamed the government for the economic depression. They first started
as the Farmers Alliance and fought against the railroad regulation, tax
returns, influential political parties and implementation of the national
banks. Because of their efforts, they were able to help the economy flourish,
thus changed their organization as the Populist Party.
