What is Kristallnacht?
The Nazi Party's (SA) paramilitary forces and people participated in the pogrom against Jews known as Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass, which took place in Nazi Germany on November 9–10, 1938. The German government did nothing but observe. The streets were covered in shards of broken glass after Jewish-owned businesses' windows were shattered, giving rise to the moniker Kristallnacht (literally, "Crystal Night").
Jewish hospitals, schools, and houses were looted as the attackers used sledgehammers to destroy the facilities. 267 synagogues were burned by rioters in Germany, Austria, and the Sudetenland. 30,000 Jewish men were detained and imprisoned in concentration camps, while almost 7,000 Jewish enterprises were damaged or destroyed.
