The values of x is 12

What is Pythagoras theorem?

A theorem stating that the square of the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other sides.

in ABC

AC²= AB² + BC²

25²= AB² + BC².............(1)

In ABD

AB²= AD² + BD²

AB²= 16² + x²

In BCD

BC²= CD² + BD²

BC²= 9² + x²

Put the values in (1)

25²=  16² + x² + 9² + x²

625 - 337 = 2x²

2x² = 288

x² = 144

x= 12

So, segment =16

segment 2 = 25 -16=9
