1. Describe a time in the debate when you drew on your preparation by referring to evidence gathered earlier.

When debating with a friend over what to eat I referred to things she said at a earlier time to help my case.

2. Describe a time in the debate when you learned something new and integrated that new information into your own ideas or response.

When debating in class I learned new things based on history of it and I used that knowledge to further support my response.

3. Describe a time in the debate when someone challenged another speaker’s reasoning, evidence, ideas, or conclusion.

I was watching a debate on t.v with the running ups for president and they both were challenging the others reasoning and ideas.

4. Describe a time in the debate when you responded thoughtfully to a different viewpoint or perspective.

When debating during class I would try different viewpoints or perspective when debating so that my classmates could see the point I was making.

5. Describe a time in the debate when someone made a point and backed it up with strong reasons and evidence.

When debating with the teacher at times they would always have a strong point and have many reasons to back up their claim

6. Describe a time in the debate when someone made a point and did not back it up with strong reasons and evidence.

Once when debating in history class a classmate of mine made a statement but had no evidence to back up his point clearly.

7. In your opinion, what made your classmate’s ideas clear and easy to follow?

The way they spoke on their idea made it easy to follow and the backup points to support their claim made it clear.

8. How did you make sure that your language was appropriate to the topic and audience of the discussion? Did you use formal or informal language?

I made sure to stay on track of the topic, I would look and see the ages of the audience to determine what language was appropriate to use. I always used formal language.
