Mary is too focussed on the past hardship she had to go through with her divorce and it’s affecting present day activities like her appointments.

Marybeth's time focus is being sad. She is late to her appointments because she is so mad and sad. Her trust is broken, and she thinks she is a bad person. This probably isn't true. Marybeth is going through hard times and making her not paying attention correctly.
