One benefit of using ph instead of molar concentrations is that since molarity is a rate of “ moles per liter" , Molarity (M) is used to measure the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution, which is used with pH applications. ... The H+ is the molarity number, which shows the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution.
The benefit of using pH instead of molar concentrations is that it gives information about the acidity or basicity of the solution also with concentration.
What is pH?
pH of any solution will be calculated as the negative logarithm of the concentration of H⁺ ion present in the solution.
As we know that:
- Molar concentration i.e. Molarity is the no. of moles of solute present in per litre of the solution, so it also gives idea about the concentration of ions present in any solution.
- From the pH value we also determine the nature of the solution on the basis of the concentration value i.e. acidic or basis.
And this information is not deliver by the molarity concentration value.
Hence to determine the nature of solution we will use pH.
