Also, Allen make use of FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE in the book by making use of the sentences such as the two sentences below;

(2). '' Mamma spoke from the dark cavelike inside".

The blinking of the eyes shows Blunt's behavior and the use of "She was sposed..." Shows Hatch character that is to say the use of REPETITION.

Analysis of the use of literary elements in the excerpt

Based on the complete text, we can see that there is the narration of how Blunt, the grandmother of Hutch confronts him and how their relationship develops for the audience to see.

With this in mind, we can see that repetition is used to emphasize the point being made by Blunt about Hutch and also the use of personification when talking about the moving window and also the use of smile when he narrates how Mamma spoke from a dark caveike place
