Why do you think there is so much controversy over whether figures are allowed in Islamic art? Some say they are as long as it is not idolatry, while others say it is prohibited? What is your opinion on the subject? Explain your answer.

There should not be any idolatry in the the Islamic art as the Holy Quran Sharif recited by Muhammad Prophet states that such idolatry is considered as Haraam.

The Islamic art is heavily inspired from geometrical designs, domes, pillars and many such other scripture formed art in architecture and art is given very aesthetic look from such designs.

  • The Quran Sharif was written by Prophet Muhammad which stated all the solutions to problems from all the aspects of life and teaches an ideal way to live life.

  • As per Quran. usage of idols and praying them is unacceptable and states that person will not seek heaven on the day of Qayamat if such practices are followed.

  • One more logic behind not using idols as the form of Islamic art is that the Almighty is omnipresent and does not need such idols to be prayed and if they are used, people may paste images over them.

Hence, the viewpoint will be that the idolatry should be prohibited in the Islamic art as per the Holy Quran Sharif.
