So this method just helps to determine order of events and not the absolute age of the landforms.
2) Absolute age dating; This method gives the exact age of landmass. This method involves radiometric dating whereby radioactive isotopes of some elements get to decay at a specific rates into smaller products. The rate of decay is usually referred to as half-life which basically tells us the amount of time it will take for the remaining half of a specific isotope to decay.
Thus, geologists will now measure the ratio of the remaining atom after undergoing decay to help them know how long the molecule had been living before decaying.
